JAMA Network Open launches under leadership of HIPRC core member

By: HIPRC Date: May 25th, 2018

Core member Fred Rivara, M.D., MPH, is editor-in-chief of the new JAMA Network Open, a fully open-access medical journal that launched this month. The journal, and its open access format, are designed to meet the needs of the rapidly changing world of academic publishing. JAMA Network Open is a general medical journal that publishes research from many disciplines.

All articles published by the journal are free and immediately available online, which is part of the journal’s global mission.

“JAMA Network Open will be an international platform for investigators around the world, moving away from the US-centric focus of so many journals. We seek articles that have both meaning for the communities in which patients live, work, and seek health care as well as generalizability to other communities and countries,” Rivara and Deputy Editor Stephan Fihn, M.D., MPH wrote in the inaugural editorial.

The journal is currently accepting manuscript submissions in a broad array of disciplines and study types.
