Outreach

Together, we have the power to prevent injury and violence.

Scientists and staff at the Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center work with diverse communities to identify injury prevention concerns and collaborate with community and policy partners to prevent injuries.

Our Outreach Core’s community partnerships jointly ensure that our Center’s research translates into public policy and effective programs. Implementing best practices from health education, behavioral science, social marketing, and communication, we ensure that our science is responsive to community injury prevention concerns.

HIPRC researchers partner with the Somali Health Board, the UW Department of Surgery, Harborview Medical Center, and King County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to bring Stop the Bleed training to Seattle’s Somali community.

HIPRC has previously conducted outreach around bicycle helmet use, drunk driving prevention, window fall prevention, booster seat use, and many other injury topics. We have also conducted a number of injury & violence communications campaigns. Past campaigns and downloadable materials can be found on our downloadables page or under the Outreach Menu, Injury & Violence Prevention Topics.

We collaborate with many leading institutions & organizations dedicated to the same goal — reducing the impact of injury in people’s lives. If you are interested in partnering with us to engage in community-based injury research, outreach, programs, or policy, we want to hear from you.
