April Pools Day 2025

April Pools Day 2025

By: Alexandra de Leon Date: April 7th, 2025

April Pools Day is right around the corner & so is summer, let’s make it a safe one!

This nationwide initiative aims to teach water safety and competency – skills that can save lives – on the water and at the beach. Public and private aquatic facilities throughout the U.S. will celebrate April “Pools” by hosting water safety events throughout the month of April – some locations will continue April “Pools” events in the month of May!

The goal of April Pools Day is to highlight the importance of:

  • Wearing a life jacket (how to make sure you are wearing it appropriately and the different types of life jackets and why life jackets are important to wear);
  • ‘Reach, Throw, Don’t Go’ (what this means and how to do it correctly);
  • And the hazards of Cold Water and what to do should you find yourself suddenly in cold water.

The campaign aims to raise awareness and expand access to these important safety skills. Your participation in April “Pools” is a GREAT opportunity to teach your family and friends about all aspects of water safety… while having fun!

April “Pools” events and activities vary depending on location. See images (or pdf) below for dates & locations.
