The City of Auburn held a Juneteenth Celebration, June 18, 2023 at Les Grove Park. The celebration helps commemorate the annual holiday, Juneteenth which celebrates the end of slavery in the United States.

The HIPRC, Harborview Medical Center, and UW Medicine were all in attendance with booths. Harborview Medical Center joined the City of Auburn to celebrate Juneteenth and share health information, answer questions and connect with the Auburn community. HIPRC’s outreach booth was onsite and featured water safety and drowning injury prevention messaging/activities. Attendees of all ages enjoyed FREE giveaways and educational activities, including a Lifesaver Milk Jug Toss game led by HIPRC volunteers. This family-friendly celebration featured live music, food trucks, inflatable rides for kids, and opportunities to support Black businesses.
