HIPRC core faculty member Ali Rowhani-Rahbar, M.D., Ph.D., MPH, has been elected to the board of directors for the Society for the Advancement of Violence and Injury Research.
SAVIR promotes research, collaboration and advocacy focused on the prevention and treatment of violence and injury. Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center is a member center of SAVIR alongside institutions from across the country.
Rowhani-Rahbar’s research focuses on violence epidemiology, and he is currently the principal investigator on a study aimed at improving the health and well-being of gunshot wound victims. His work has particularly focused on promoting healing and preventing recidivism.
At HIPRC, he is the Violence Prevention Section lead and the director of the Research Methods Core. He has also served on the American College of Emergency Physicians Technical Advisory Group on Firearm Violence Research and the Firearms Subcommittee of Washington State Safer Homes Task Force for Suicide Prevention.
