Empowering Youth Justice Outreach: Amplifying Voices for Change

Four students from across Washington were able to present their original podcast which explores young people’s experiences with the justice system.

This podcast was a part of the Empowering Youth Justice Outreach Project (EYJO), an initiative aimed at diverse students who are passionate about issues surrounding youth exposure to the justice system. The youth-led podcast features personal narratives and interviews with justice system-impacted youth, highlighting the challenges they face and the changes they hope to see. Through this podcast, these young advocates shed light on the realities of the legal system and the urgent need for reform.

Various community members, partners, and supporters attended the event to learn and converse with the young people.

This initiative was supported by the University of Washington’s Harborview Injury Prevention & Research Center (HIPRC), the Academy for Creating Excellence, King County (Ace Academy), and the Center for Communication, Difference, and Equity.
