Former HIPRC Trainee to become Safe States Alliance Executive Director

By: Alexandra de Leon Date: October 22nd, 2024

The Safe States Alliance Executive Committee has selected Sharon Gilmartin to step into the role of Executive Director, effective January 2025.

Gilmartin was a former HIPRC Research Fellow from 2009-2011. She worked on various traffic safety projects with Dr. Beth Ebel (Core HIPRC Faculty) and Tony Gomez (Affiliate HIPRC member). She shares that her first experience with Safe States started when Dr. Ebel encouraged her to submit an abstract and apply for a student scholarship from Safe States many years ago.

Gilmartin will replace Rich Hamburg, who announced his plans to retire earlier this month. For more information on the announcement, visit SafeStates.org. Follow Safe States Alliance on Instagram and LinkedIn for more updates!
