UW PHI-HIPRC Exploratory Research Award

Congratulations to HIPRC core faculty member, Dr. Rebecca Maine who was just awarded the University of Washington’s Population Health Initiative (UW PHI-HIPRC) exploratory research award. UW PHI awarded six pilot research grants to faculty-led teams from 10 different UW schools and colleges.

Dr. Maine’s study is titled, “Ensuring equal access to trauma care in Washington State through system modeling.” Her project will study optimal locations of trauma centers.

The primary goal of this study:

  • Determine which level trauma centers are treating specific injuries
  • Which injuries results in transfer
  • Determine how characteristics of individual hospitals influence injury treatment and mortality rate in Washington State
